Unencrypted HLS support
Download supported M3U8 and HLS video streams in Chrome.
Video Download Manager Pro detects supported unencrypted HLS media and its M3U8 playlists from the active tab. It is not a DRM remover, credential bypass tool, or platform restriction bypass.
Variant selection
The extension can prefer the requested quality when that variant is available, then fall back to the best detectable option.
Progress feedback
Download preparation and browser download status are shown in the extension interface.
Legal boundaries
Only use the extension for media you are allowed to save. DRM-protected, paywalled, or restricted streams are not supported.
What an M3U8 playlist means
HLS video normally uses an M3U8 manifest that points to one or more quality variants and a sequence of media segments. Video Download Manager reads supported manifests exposed to the browser, matches them to the active player, and applies the preferred quality setting when a reliable variant is available.
- Master playlists can expose several resolutions or bitrate variants.
- The selected quality falls back to Auto when an exact match is unavailable.
- Progress is tracked while supported stream segments are prepared and downloaded.
- Encrypted, DRM-protected, paywalled, and access-restricted playlists are excluded.
When to use the MP4 downloader instead
If the page exposes one direct video file instead of an M3U8 playlist, read the MP4 video downloader guide. If nothing appears after playback starts, follow the no video detected checklist.
